    Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters - Published regularly since 1920, Acta Zoologica has retained its position as one of the world's leading journals in the field of animal organization, development, structure and function. Each issue publishes original research of interest to zoologists and physiologists worldwide, in the field of animal structure (from the cellular to the organismic level) and development with emphasis on functional, comparative and phylogenetic aspects. Occasional review articles are also published.

    American Midland Naturalist
    University of Notre Dame - The American Midland Naturalist was founded in 1909 by Reverend Julius A. Nieuwland. It is a refereed, broad-spectrum journal publishing basic research in diverse disciplines in biology and varied taxa. The historic name is no longer precisely descriptive, as it includes materials from all of North America and, occasionally, from other areas. An editorial survey identified major topics, as are evident in its list of associate editors, for animal, vegetation and plant population in ecology, animal behavior, herpetology, ornithology, aquatic ecology, parasitology, ichthyology, plant physiology, and biological statistics.

    American Museum Novitates
    American Museum of Natural History - The Novitates, published continuously and numbered consecutively since 1921, contains descriptions of new forms and reports in zoology, paleontology, geology and mineralogy. New numbers are published at irregular intervals.

Children?s literature and research conducted in other states on species that occur in Florida are not included, unless Florida is mentioned. This is an update of "An updated, indexed Bibliography of the Herpetofauna of Florida" Technical Report No. 19 by Kevin M. Enge and published in 2002 by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

    International Society for the History and Bibliography of Herpetology - The International Society for the History and Bibliography of Herpetology is a not-for-profit organization, was founded 1998 in Guelph, Canada.     Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature
    International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature - The Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature is published four times each year. It contains Applications for Commission action to set aside the provisions of the Code in cases where their strict observance would cause instability or confusion. Publication of an Application is an invitation for any person to contribute comments or counter-suggestions, which may also be published. The Commission makes a ruling (called an Opinion) on a case only after a suitable period for comments. All Opinions are published in the Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature. The Bulletin also contains articles and notes relevant to zoological nomenclature; such contributions are invited and should be sent to the Secretariat.

    Cladistics
    Academic Press - The Willi Hennig Society publishes Cladistics, The International Journal of the Willi Hennig Society. Cladistics publishes both empirical and conceptual papers on systematics, and encourages debate and other useful dialogue about systematic methods.     Conservation Genetics
    Springer Science+Business Media B.V. - Conservation Genetics promotes the conservation of genetic diversity by providing a forum where data and ideas can be presented, facilitating the further development of this field of study. Contributions come from researchers in a variety of fields including population genetics, molecular ecology and biology, evolutionary biology, and systematics, to name just a few. Conservation issues are multifaceted and incorporate diverse disciplines.     Journal of Kansas Herpetology
    Kansas Herpetological Society - The Journal of Kansas Herpetology is the official publication of KHS. Issued quarterly, the JKH publishes original manuscripts and notes of interest dealing with the biology of herpetofauna. The JKH also contains information and reports of Society activities. All interested persons are invited to submit items for publication. The JKH uses the standardized common names of Collins & Taggart (2002 et sequentia); authors are advised to consult that work. One year after they have been published, gratis back issues of the Journal of Kansas Herpetology are available for downloading as pdfs. The KHS is pleased to offer gratis back issues of a dues-based herpetological periodical for the first time in the history of our profession.

    Maik Nauka Interperiodica - The Journal of Molecular Biology publishes original scientific research concerning studies of organisms or their components at the molecular level. Published weekly, the journal provides up-to-date and comprehensive coverage of all aspects of molecular biology.

    Molecular Biology and Evolution
    Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution - Molecular Biology and Evolution (MBE) publishes research at the interface between molecular and evolutionary biology. The journal publishes investigations of molecular evolutionary patterns and processes, tests of evolutionary hypotheses that use molecular data, and studies that use molecular evolutionary information to address questions about biological function at all levels of organization. Reports of work on comparative and evolutionary genomics and the evolution of molecular structure and function are particularly welcome. MBE is entirely owned and controlled by the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution.

    Blackwell Science - Molecular Ecology publishes papers that utilize molecular genetic techniques to address consequential questions in ecology, evolution, behaviour and conservation.

    Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution
    Academic Press - Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution is dedicated to bringing Darwin's dream to "have fairly true genealogical trees of each great kingdom of Nature" within grasp. The journal provides a forum for molecular studies that advance our understanding of phylogeny and evolution.

    CNAH Note: Between 1997 and 2001, sixteen per cent of the fifty-one systematic papers published on North American herpetofauna appeared in Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution. By comparison, 31 per cent of the papers appeared in the three traditional herpetological journals, 29 per cent appeared in books, and 24 per cent were published in other outlets.

    Southwestern Naturalist
    Southwestern Association of Naturalists - The Southwestern Naturalist is open to papers in English (with an abstract or summary in Spanish required) dealing with living or fossil organisms, assemblages, or ecosystems of Mexico, Central America, and that region of the United States west of the Mississippi River and south of 40° N latitude. Anatomy, physiology, heredity, behavior, natural history, dispersal, distribution, evolution, and systematics are examples of acceptable topics, but do not constitute an exhaustive list.

    Systematic Biology
    Society of Systematic Biologists - Systematic Biology is the quarterly journal for the Society of Systematic Biologists.
