Taxonomic Comments:
Masta, Sullivan, Lamb & Routman (2002 Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution 24: 302-314), using mtDNA, demonstrated that this taxon is a distinct clade (= lineage), which may eventually merit specific recognition.
