Western Sand Snake Chilomeniscus stramineus  Cope, 1860

Taxonomic Comments:

Grismer, Wong & Galina-Tessaro (2002 Herpetologica 58(1): 18-31) synonymized the taxon Chilomeniscus cinctus Cope 1861 with Chilomeniscus stramineus Cope 1860. Common name is changed to Western Sand Snake, in deference to the highly variable external pattern of the species, which may be spotted, banded, or uniform in color.
